i just bought a JVC. i have no complaints about it. if you plan on playing an ipod and controlling it through the head unit, stay away from power acoustics and farenheit. i had that before the JVC and look where i am now. pioneer always makes good stuff too

I have the Kenwood DNX6140 w/ nav and bluetooth and I really like it. I had the DNX5120 before and had no complaints about it. The Alpine 203/P1 combo isn't a bad choice for that price as well.

I have a Pioneer Avic D3 in my truck and absolutely love it. There are newer models than mine which can be found for well under $1k. Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC, Alpine all make some great models. Just take a look around and decide what feature you want and go from there.
