The Kicker VSS Powerstage is worth every single penny. Night and day difference over the stock system in my XLT with 302a option group and 8" My Ford Touch. Earsmccoy did a great video I used to help with the install. Amazing sound quality from the two new amps and sub system.

I saw that thread, really helpful. I still wonder though, will it sound better/worse with aftermarket speakers? I know it's all tunes for factory door speakers, so how would it sound with a nice set of infinity or Polk audio (or whatever other decent brand) speakers?
I don't want to buy the VSS then find out aftermarket door speakers don't sound quite right in the truck and then decide to do aftermarket all the way, which would've costed me around 1800 (including labor, better quality brands) than the 1250 for the VSS.
I'm kind of frozen right now, lol. Another part of me wants to wait until plug and play harnesses and speaker brackets are made for for the truck so I can upgrade a piece at a time and see where the biggest difference was made.

I am in the same boat as you. However, I have a 5-channel Kicker amp and a Kicker L5 or shallow mount sub and box from my 2007 F150. I plan to use the amp and one of the subs and keep the stock speakers for now. In my experience, all speakers sound better with a better amp but not all speakers sound better with a poor amp. I will eventually replace the 6x9 woofers with better 6x9 woofers. I will not use 2 way 6x9s. I may also look into what tweeters will fit in the stock location. I do not have the Sony system but I do have the 7 speaker setup. This means rear 6.5 coaxials, front 6x9 components and the center speaker.
I have ordered the parrot harness adapter to wire it all without cutting any factory wires. I have also ordered the Audiocontrol LC7i to connect the audio to the Amp.
I plan to start another thread once I get started but I wanted to comment here in case it helps you with your decision. The Parrot harness is product number FOR-11CK.
