HU Help Needed (There's too many!!)
Hello. Last weekend I installed the audiophile sub and replaced the HU. It sounded fantastic, but I had the illumination problem and I lost my line-in (ipod) option. I looked and I had bought a 2006 Explorer HU (6L2T-18C815-BE). I noted that this HU had a heat sink on the left side.
I bought a 2007 HU (7L3T-18C815-CG) to fix the 2 problems mentioned above, but the sound quality is not nearly as good. I noted that this HU has no heat sink at all.
Does the absence of a heat sink mean that there is some component not present in the 2007 HU that is there in the 2006 Explorer HU? Would that cause the huge difference in sound quality? Is there a 2007+ audiophile HU that has the heat sink on the side? If anyone knows, I would appreciate a part number as I have found more than 10 different numbers and can't keep buying HUs hoping they will be right.
