Default How to remove the head unit panel for the 2011s?

I have seen the video and pictures some members made for 2010 head unit panel removal.. when I tried to do it on my 2011 Lariat, I found that head unit panel is a little different on the edges. In this case, it has two tabs on each side under the silver panels, which means that the silver panels have to be pretty much removed in order to remove the head unit panel. But I am not sure how to completely remove the silver panels...Has anyone done this before? Thanks!

I don't recall the driver side being that difficult, it's been a while. The passenger side you will have to remove the airbag panel to access a hidden screw. Remove the glove box and when you look straight up you should see three 5/16 bolts, remove bolts and unplug airbag to remove this panel. Once you do this you will see the hidden screw at the top.

Is there a chance that the airbag is detonated when I remove the airbag panel? I have never messed with that panel..just a bit concerned.

I just removed mine on my Lariat. The silver pieces do not have to be completely removed only pulled out halfway to remove the radio bezel. Look on you tube tons of videos on removal. Search for 2011 radio removal. If you still need help let me know.

If you are worried, disconnect the battery before doing so. I have unplugged many and never had any issues.

They require a bit of pulling to get them loose enough for the fascia to come out but nothing needs to be unscrewed.

I have the same interior. The silver pieces will pull out far enough for you to get the center wood grain part out. The wood grain part is the only part with screws.
