I've never been big on electronics but I installed my Sony head unit myself. Just need the piggy back adapter, and the adapter plate for dash. Some butt connectors, a little liquid electrical tape to seal the crimped butts. And just match up wires then plug and play. Took me about 45 mins while learning.

Honestly you could use any of the following, you dont have to have "liquid" electrical tape.

1.You can just splice and tape the connections
2. cut, splice then solder and tape or use shrink tubbing.
3. cut, splice, then use twist or squeeze connectors.

Soldering gives the best connection while shrink tubbing forms the tightest insulator. Any and all the follow will work. A head-unit only pulls around 15amps .

Cruthfield will give you a harness that plugs into your factory plug and has about 12 wires on the end of it. While the new HU will have its on adapter that plugs into the HU and about 12 wires at the end of it.

You will be given a sheet that shows what wires are what on the original harness then you just splice them to the same wires on the new HU adapter. I can post pics of mine tomorrow and let you know the color coding. Its fairly simple.

Soldering isnt necessary and its not included. You will need some wire cutters or cutting pliars (need nose) and some electrical tape for an easy install
