Help with system for $1500
Ok I have a 09 Ford f150 crew cab with four doors. I'm looking at putting a nice system in however I don't want to go over 1500.00. I want to keep my stock head unit as I like the functions and clean look. So I am going to be using a Caché COE6 its like a clean sweep but heard its better as it has 6 outputs. That's around 150.00 I have also found a speaker box that will go under my rear seat to hold two 10's there is another 150.00. I need help with a good set of 6 1/2 component speakers for the front and a set of 5x7 coaxial speakers for the rear door, and two 10" subs. Also will needhelp with amps. I've been told to run one for the front and rears and one for the two subs. I have heard good things about JL stuff but am limited on knowlege and that is why I'm here. I have no clue about how many watts I'm going to need either so if you guys don't mind helping me out with a good package I would be greatfull. My local shop wanted 2000.00 for a JL set up with a clean sweep. I like tinkering on my own stuff soI thought I could probably get a nicer system if I bought and installed it myself as long as I took my time. I'm 41 years old and won't be going to compititions or anything I listen to anything from hard rock to country. I'm just wanting a nice crisp and clean sounding system, as my stock system sounds muffledand muddy sounding. Thanks for your time and effort helping me out!

Dazed and Confused
You will probably get a dozen different answers for speakers. So I will put in my 2 cents for Polks. I have MM6501 (6.5" components) in front and db571 (5x7 coax) in rear and really like them.

For the money the MB Quart FSB216 6.5" Component sets are a great value. I am using them in both doors. My entire system is less then $700 and that includes the materials to build the sub box. Not a competition stereo but something that sounds pretty damn good.
I have...
Clarion VX 401 headunit
2 sets of MB Quart FSB216 (running off the headunit)
RE Audio XT-800.2V3 sub amp (Running at 2 Ohms)
2 RE Audio REX12D4 12" subs in a fiberglass box under the rear seat

I'm a big JL Audio fan. I'd go JL everything. You could run 2 10" W1s, a nice JL component set, 5x7s in the rear doors, a 750 watt amp for the subs, & 400/4 amp for your highs. You should be pretty close to budget with that set up.

As someone said, lots of opinions out there. I put infinity kappa comps up front and kappa coax in the back doors, 5 channel JL amp and MTX thunderform with one 10". All in all, LOVE it!!!!!

What did you wind up spending? $1500 is a LOT of coin for what you can get these days. Hell, I went with Infinity components up front with Coaxials in the rear along with a loaded and amped Thunderform and spent under $600.
