Default help with rearview camera

I have a Pioneer AVH400NEX for a head unit and Taotronics TT-CC17 for a camera. The camera IR LED's come on when in reverse(so that has to be working properly?) and the head unit switches to camera view when in reverse(so that has to be set properly?) but it is just a black screen... something wrong with the AV cable?

EDIT:
BTW this is on an 06 F150.
PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like it. Does it have connections on either end so you can test it?

Does it use RCA jacks?
With an ohm meter or continuity tester, you can check the center conductor and the outer conductor.
It may be possible to connect the camera directly to the head unit...bypassing the cord.

Yeah it uses a yellow rca... so pop out the head unit and check the center and outer jacket for continuity of the rca plug? What do you mean by bypassing it the cord? The only way to connect the camera to the head unit is by using a cord?

So the cord is male RCA to male RCA? You can test the continuity on that.
If the cable tests bad, replace it. If OK, find another video source, camcorder, etc and try it into the head unit. Then try a another display with the camera.

So I brought down a dvd player and went to the back of my truck and hooked it up to that end of the rca and the video played on my head unit but only when it was in AV, not reverse... so I brought the dvd player IN my truck and hooked it up with another yellow rca I have and same thing... only viewed in AV and not reverse... but I know my head unit is sensing the reverse because it switches screens...

With the camera connected, can you put the head unit in AV and see the camera image?
Maybe you have the camera connected to the wrong input.
P70 of the owners manual shows where to connect the camera. It is a different input than the AV input.

....... yeah.... that worked.... only thing is that I had to tell me head unit to stop switching screens when in reverse because it doesn't allow any adjustments.... so where is the yellow rca for the camera supposed to plug into the head unit then?
