I've been plenty happy with my Kicker CompVT, handles all that V9 can dish out. And they can be had cheaply..

If "perfectly adequate" is what you come up with you're telling me all I need to know.

By that I mean that you cannot stand to be in the truck for more than 5 min at elevated volume.
How's that?

How about :
At full volume your ears start to bleed in ten seconds. In twenty its your eyes. In thirty seconds you're dead.

Sheesh.

I stand by my statement in this case. Sorry for the ignorance. That fox box is not built to spec for a w3 in a ported enclosure. Just cause it fits doesn't mean it's right. And just cause it's loud as **** doesn't mean it sounds good lol. Just my opinion from experience. Any choice, and I mean any, is better than the stock Sony sub.

I can certainly see your point about the fox box. It is not built to spec for any specific sub. However, thats not what you said in your previous post. You made a blanket statement that sealed>ported which is simply not true. There are WAY too many variables to make that statement. I prefer sealed personally. That being said, people seem to like the fox box/Type-R combo, and 99% of people arent looking for SQ. I might be a little bit of an odd bird. My amps and sub are from the late 90s lol

The JL 10 TW3 and 12 TW3 are not built for ported enclosures.

The Alpine SWR shallows are outstanding performers when in the right box size. Anyone says different is a fool. The SI BM is probably the standard when it comes to pure SQ which most people don't like once they actually hear a real SQ subwoofer. If you're into to BOOM BOOM over inflated bass, the SI is not for you. The Alpine is great blend of both worlds when its in the right size box.

Best thing to do is model up the subwoofer you're interested in to see what the F3 comes in at. I've run the Alpine SWR in the past in a .89 cu/ft box with an F3 of 38hz. Digging down deep was effortless.

Just as a note....the SI BM is no longer being made. Nick is working on a newer version with more output. SI BM MKV, I think he named it. I wouldn't look for that to be out anytime soon. Might find a few of the MKIV's for sale on the DIY forum soon though....once people start jumping ship to the MKV.

The JL 12" I mentioned above recommends an enclosure with 0.8cuft and has an F3 of 38Hz.
The 10" recommended is 0.5 cuft. and an F3 of 40Hz. The dimensions are on their website.

I really like the fact that the box fits under the pass rear seat in my SCAB and leaves me so much room under the rest of the seat.

What about this SUB:
Amazon.com : SD-2 10D2 - Sundown Audio 10" Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer : Vehicle Subwoofers : Car Electronics Amazon.com : SD-2 10D2 - Sundown Audio 10" Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer : Vehicle Subwoofers : Car Electronics

I heard stellar reviews, particularly for shallow mount situations.

Also, heard a few good things about this company, but have no experience with them, anyone else?

I too am looking for a sub/amp/box combo solution, so I'm following this thread to suggestions.

Thanks.
