Default help with factory stereo

hi guys i have a 1999 f 150 extended cab 5.4 L 4x4.

it has the factory stereo/tape deck still installed. i would like to upgrade to a aftermarket cd player.

I have looked over my dash and i cannot figure out how to start to remove the factory stereo. has anyone here ever done this on a 1999 f 150?

How do i start to remove the factory stereo? I do not want to mess up my console so any help you guys can give me will help out alot. thanks

Assuming it is like my 97, You can gently pry the cover that goes around the stereo that has vents in it. Then you can buy the tool at Walmart or make them out of a metal hanger and stick them in the four holes you will see.... Pull and the deck will come out. You may have to unplug your 4x4 to move the panel enough.

J, Did you put in an aftermarket cd player? I don't see it on your mod list!

sweet good luck with it, kenwoods good brand - if i didn't get my dvd tv unit for free (barter) then i would never of bought it, couldnt justify spending 750 on a headunit.

The removal kit is like 6 bucks at Wally world. You can also use a clothes hanger.
