The filter would be built into your amp. I don't think you can get one w/o getting a new amp. You should be able to tune what you have into a very nice sounding system, though. I honestly don't know anything about Dayton subwoofers. I tend to stick with Kicker or JL.

The Alpine M500 is an awesome amp with a subsonic filter.

Just to save you some trouble I don't think summing the sub input will change much. You could try it but not sure you'll hear a difference.
