I just picked up this same set up the other day from a local guy. After watching the video which shows how to remove the stereo I am really not feeling the install. I have the same setup as pictured in the first post. I believe it is a factory clarion in dash unit with everything (screen, brain box (that goes behind the screen), dash harness, SD/USB reader, and stereo bezel). What is the difference between the advent and clarion. Is the clarion unit that I have worth the $800 that I spent? I know that it came out of a 2013 Ford F150 that was totaled that had less than 6000 miles.

the reason they list 2013 trucks is because the STX trim comes with the 2012 syle radio, 2013 xlt and up come with the new style 4.2 or the MFT touch screen , I think that's where some of the confusion is comeing from ...
For you who are thinking about the advent I wouldn't hesitate the head unit is pretty cool, Plus Walt at ADC mobile is awesome, I had some questions on a Saturday I emailed him and he emailed back within 20 minutes !!!!!!!!!
I can see the 2013 model being as good or better ............

FYI: Advent is due to release the OE replacement navi head unit for the 2013 F150 with the small display very shortly:
We don't have a ton of info on the deck yet in terms of applications and do not know what 2014 applications there are for it, but we should have one in our hands very soon and will be able to post a hands-on report with videos, etc. once we're able to play with it.
Stay tuned...

I'm bummed - just got word from my rep that this deck has been delayed until at least the end of November due to a number of issues, most troublesome is the delay getting Apple certification. I guess the thing is all done, but to get their certification, Apple has to test and approve it, and that is not an easy (or fast) process.
I'll keep you posted...

I'm not quite clear as to why Apple has to certify this
Will this head unit use iOS?
I wasn't aware of this but it what I'm looking for...
thanks,
Charles

Show me when it's a reality. Otherwise it's all speculation.
