I'm thinking about upgrading my speakers from the Factory 6X8 to 6.5" Component speakers. Has anyone done this and if so did you like the sound better with the 6.5?

I'm looking at the following 6.5" speakers
MB Quart DC1-216 $55.00
XC1-216 $70.00
Alpine SPS-610C $70.00
JBL GTO608C $80.00

Any help would be great.

Yes. The 6.5 will be better almost every time.

a lot of improvement can be had by upgrading the stock speakers. I've been running Hybrid Audio Technologies in my last 2 trucks, and have been really happy with them. They cost a bit more but are worth it. Even their entry level "imagine" line of speakers sounds fantastic for the price.

Hi I just purchased the alpine KTP 60C ,,,6.5 " components big fan of the type R,,, can someone give me a vendor and part # for the mounting plate, I am going to need for my 2013 FX4 crew install thanks Chris

I did this in my 2013 yesterday I put the tweeters in the side window defroster vent my alpines cam with the adapter plater for the 6.5 speakers I am pleased the way they came out I say go for the alpine type R it's my 2nd pair and I am loving them

Most put 6.5 components in the front only then 5x7/6x8 coax in the rear.
