Default GPS install above Center Integrated Display

I see info on removing the center piece in the dash above the display (sorry what is the piece called?). I have a real wild idea about maybe replacing or trying to use this piece as an under mount for a Garmin or similar. After some rework, I would be able to flip the piece up and have the GPS drop down. When done, the whole thing would close up with nothing visible but the black center piece itself. To wild? Any thoughts on this? My ultimate goal is to add GPS without using visible mounts and this seems like a great spot for it.

Sounds like it may just work. Need to find the right mount for the GPS. I don't know of any flip style but they probably make one.
