Getting dual subs...what else do i need!?!

without plotting it out in WinISD it would be hard to say but yes if you were comparing one 10 vented vs one 10 sealed yeah the 3db bump I would expect with the vented box but I would still have a hard time saying that the single 10 would be louder. only way i would see that is if he used a much higher quality sub/amp combo with the single 10 setup vs the dual 10 setup

At the lower freqs, the port can overcome the difference in cone area. With the 35hz tuning of the Fox Box it might have a tendency to be a little peaky in response but it would be pretty loud, quite likely louder than the pair sealed depending on the particular subs and the power on tap.
That said, unless you can find a sub that is very well matched to the specs of the ported box, the sealed setup is going to sound better. Prefab ported boxes, unless they are designed for a specific sub, are a recipe for poor bass response.

1 sub vs 2
I just got rid of my single ported sub setup. I was running a Digital Designs 1508, ported and tuned to 35 hz. Problem is, I don't see the ideal box fitting under a seat. I couldn't get proper loading of the sub, or proper port orientation to get the extra volume out of the sub. Last weekend I ditched that 8 and put in 2 10" Image Dynamics IDQs in a FOXBOX for a 2007 F150 SCREW. I am feeding them 600 watts a piece, and they have the same volume output with the subout set to -5 (for break in) as the 1508 had on +6 and fully broken in. They have very very tight hard hitting bass. It feels like someone is kicking the back of my seat..... They outperform the 8 in sound quality in a huge way, but the 8, being ported, could put out more db during a burp, but that was it. I went with the 1508 because people all say it was the sub that can outdo dual 10s. And maybe it can, I just don't think it can under an unlifted seat.... and I don't see the SQ improving to even close to the clarity I get out of the IDQs!
Digital Designs is known for being an spl oriented sub, whereass Image Dynamics really work on SQ, so I can see that being one of the huge factors in my experience. But if you have ANY doubts about a single sub ported, go with Joe Foxes dual sealed. It's a solid built box, fits in the truck beautifully, without messing around with a poor quality LMI seat lift, and it puts out very good sound quality if your subs are designed play in the echelon of .60 gross cubic feet sealed.
Soooo IMO, either do a seat lift to get some air space under there, or go with a fox box. Also... the new alpine type r 10s seem like with the new design they would be a tight fit into the foxbox. If they do fit.... you can pick up a pair for $250 on ebay, and they will handle 600 rms a piece
