Default Fit any 8" 09+ Crewcab

Just messing around to see what could fit and built a skeleton for a box under the rear seat. Downfiring is about what I expected with 4ish inches of clearance. But I was surprised when I measured the front, I made it with a slight angle up front which keeps with the angle of the seat. It looks like you can use any 8" sub you would like without any seat lift. Frame clears everything under the seat including the handles. Will post some measurements later. Pic is of a DC 8" subwoofer.

Looks like it would work just fine.

No where near enough clearance with 1/2" or 3/4" plus clearance for baffle.

Proof of concept. Will work with 3/4" just fine. Just had some 1/2" mdf and wanted to prove if it would work.

Here's actual dimensions and the second pic has the dimensions you will need to get the angles right.

Even better to save you math. If you build it exactly like the dimensions out of 3/4" and miter as shown in this pic the area of airspace is 62.71 inches. Simply multiply your box inner box width for cubic inches.

All said and done I was wrong. The boxes I have here will work for subs with a smaller power rating. I believe the sundown SD line would work and most mainstream brands. I went with a soundqubed hds208 in mine and it required a 1" spacer and sanding some of the inside if the box.

great info!

i picked up a sundown sd2 8 to test fit with the intention of running 4 sealed. I was starting to second guess myself but seeing this i'll have to get started on the box this weekend after all.
