Run active. Use crossovers from your dsp or amps.

Forget about the popular brands. Seems like all I see people recommend is Pioneer, JBL, Kicker, and Alpine.

There is much better out there.
I am doing an install now with Hybrid Audio.

Check out:
Hybrid Audio
Image Dynamics
Morel
Dynaudio
DLS
Rainbow
Helix
Brax
Diamond

You could get great sound by using anyone of the speakers listed above. Honestly you should go to a local shop and listen to all the brands possible within your price range. I've had clients love speakers that I hate and vise versa. It's all personal preference and we can't help you by guessing what you'd like. Some speakers are super bright and loud where others are more smooth and well balanced very much like a louder stock system should sound. Some have said that adding an amplifier to stock speakers got them where they wanted without upgrading the speakers. I'd seriously recommend listening to as many setups as possible before making any decision. For my personal tastes being I'm over 40 and like a well rounded setup I love JL Audio stuff. I also like other brands as well though. Kinda also depends on how much money you want to spend. Sorry, I sure I didn't really help too much with guiding you towards any decision but can anyone really do so without testing speaker setups? Anyhow PM me if you want pricing on anything.

What this gentleman said.

Everyone has a different ear. I know there are some folks that frown on the big box stores or the same old brands, but nothing beats hearing them in person. In my area, there are still some reputable car audio stores around. Most car audio stores will have several sets of speakers onsite that you can listen to in person. If this is an option, I would recommend it. Also try to match your speakers to the amplifier you have. Under-powering your speakers will not give you the full potential of the speakers you buy. Car audio is much like home audio, the amount of money your willing to spend will dictate the quality you receive.

Good luck!

Unless you are putting these in the rear of a 15 or 16 none of these will fit. we have 6x8's not 6x9. Unless you are planning on cutting some.

I've had to fix a lot of systems by simply tuning the setup using the same equipment as well. You'd be amazed at how different the exact same components can sound with tuning. You'd even hear a big difference by adding a ton of sound deadening material and nothing more.
