Favorite Speakers?
I'm upgrading the speakers in my truck and I just wanted to see which speakers you guys like the most. I've been trying to find this online and I've found amazon.com or crutch field reviews useless as they are all 5 stars whether its a $30 or $200 set. Need an honest assessment... I'm okay spending $100-150 if it makes a difference... but don't want to waste money. I don't need pounding loud - just something with clarity - something that displays an acoustic guitar with amazing, beautiful clarity.

Any name brand in that price range will be similar for the most part. Pick one you like or can get a chance to hear.
To name a few - Pioneer, Rockford, Alpine, JBL, Infinity but tweeters are very harsh IMO.

So in that price range I would be looking at Alpine Type R speakers. They are great sounding speakers with good mid bass and smooth highs and don't need a lot of power to sound really good. I have always been and will always be a JL fan but only if you're willing to drop a pretty penny on their nicer components and a good amp to run them as JL is much more power hungry.

At the price range mentioned, this is one of my favorite speakers. I remember it coming with a 6X9 adapter.

man... to hell with all the component sets...
Get a nice set of Silver Flute 6.5's, https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.co...1/2-wool-cone/
And run a pair of these Vifa 1 inch tweets. https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.co...-dome-tweeter/
And the key here, is to run these active. You have a 4 channel Rockford amp already, what kind of processing or whatever are you making that thing run with?
Seriously man, for less than $100, that's a REALLY nice little SQ setup for a front stage. I run the tweeters, and will be running the Silver Flutes soon. The tweeters have such a smooth and crisp sound...and the mids... just do some quick googling for reviews. Guys ditching Hertz, Focal, JL...all different brands of VERY expensive mids, for these little $30 drivers.

I found four Infinity 8602 cfx reference 6x8 coaxial speakers for $143 shipped on eBay. I had time to put in one on my 2014 screw today and it sounds so much better than the stock speakers. Now that I know more about what I'm doing, maybe the other three will go a lot faster.

I finished up the four Infinity 8602 cfx speaker and Dynamat install and it's a huge improvement over the stock speakers. I turned the volume up almost as loud as I can stand and the clarity was amazing. I'm done. Don't need anything else for the audio system.
