It sure does.
Thanks for keeping me up to date. If you end up getting an amp installed I'd love to hear if that makes a huge difference.
Although updating the speakers is still on my list of mods, I think I'm gonna Line-X my bed first which means these will be put on hold for a bit.

I don't know how soon I will do the amp. I'm not looking forward to doing all of that wiring. I may just let one of the local stereo shops do it. I may get my nerf bars first though.

I've spent the last few weeks debating how I want to improve the stereo. I've decided to replace the head unit. I debated just amping the door speakers, or adding an amp & sub, or replacing the head unit. I really wanted to keep the factory look, but I also didn't want to give up the cargo room under my back seats.
I decided to go with the Pioneer AVH-3200BT http://www.crutchfield.com/s_130P320....html?tp=20217
My factory radio didn't have Sync or anything, so this one is a bit of an upgrade as well. It has a lot more power than the factory radio, so it should boost the door speakers nicely as well. I played around with it for a bit in Best Buy and I liked it.
It will get installed this weekend. I will let you know my impressions. The only crappy part about swapping out the head unit is the price of the harness. It is like $130 for the harness. A local stereo shop has it for $80 though. Plus you need the dash kit and antenna adapter. But, by the time you buy a decent sub, box, amp, inline fuse, wire, RCAs, etc., you are almost at about the same price as the head unit + the other stuff.

Ok Darkmoone, my head unit replacement is complete. I'm pretty happy with the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT at the moment. It took me a bit to get the EQ set how I wanted it, but overall, it is a great HU. It definitely gave the new speakers more power and added some bass. I'm not sure that it is enough bass for me though. I'm going to give it a rest for a bit though as there are other things that I want to get for my truck.
I may add a sub and an amp eventually, but it will be a while. Nerf bars, exhaust, tune, and tonneau cover are next.

Thanks for the update. Any pics of your new HU?
I don't know I'll go that route since I have Sync and I REALLY like Sync and how that works. We'll see though

Just saw your reply. I'll try to get some pics up soon. I haven't taken any yet. I'm still enjoying it though. I understand about Sync. I didn't have it, so it wasn't an issue for me.

I traded in a 2007 Red Mustang GT on my 2010 XLT SCREW. I love the truck but hate the sound in comparison. Ford missed the mark with the speakers and sound in my opinion

Would love to see pics and more details on your install. Looking at the same HU Pioneer 3200bt. Does it still stay on after you turn off your key until you open a door? That is a nice feature and the harness issue seems to be a part of that. Thanks in advance for your pics.

Sorry, I haven't taken any pics of it yet. I'll try to get some later today. My wife has my truck at the moment.

Butopia - The delayed power cut off is standard. It is a nice feature...
This HU is a pretty sweet deal (6 rca hookups / rear view camera hook up / Phone Unit inside the HU / High Pass EQ / Subwoofer Controls) - The HU power has about 24 true continuous watts. Ebay has it listed for about $380 delivered. This along with speaker upgrades are a great 1st step..
I have this Unit as well hooked up to the following;
Kenwood 6x8 (image enhancer, new model) on each door
Kenwood Tweeters up top
2 ea. 6.5" Bazooka Tubes (great option for not building a box ($200 and they sound like 10's)
Rockford Fosgate P400.4 (50 x 4 @ 4 ohms, 100 x 4 @ 2 ohms)
Old School Vintage Punch 150 (90 x 2 @ 2 ohms)
I mainly listen to country and reggae (wierd mix I know) and the sound is crystal clear and the tubes have a great solid bass response.
Interested to see what you guys finally decide on. I'll work on some pics in the near future..

Lokki- ..."My wife has my truck at the moment. "
LOL! This one reason I've never taught my dogs how to drive, I never have to worry about the truck being somewhere I am not. Looking forward to the pics.

Yes, though I'm thinking I may go with the non-BT version since I have a Blue Ant S4 BT unit that is AWESOME and PORTABLE. All voice activated (other than turning it on) 700hrs of standby and charges quickly.
I have also seen a number of youtube vid reviews of this unit and VERY impressed with its ability to play from almost ANY source including one guy that had a 150gig notebook drive hooked up through the front USB. Heck with a 32gig SD card, you have simple ability to watch, listen to anything.
Now only thing is finding it for a good price. Also have considered the Clairon VX400 since you don't need a special connector to use a Sirrius Sat radio module like you do with Pioneer. I've found the VX400 for $300 including BT and only drawback I see is screen is not as bright as Pioneer and doesn't appear to have SD slot, though you certainly could attach thru rear USB connection.
What would REALLY be interesting is an iPhone app, that would allow you to view a running app on you iPhone on the DVD screen. As an example, I have Navigon in my iPhone and it would be great if I could just view it thru the HU rather than have to buy a new navigation unit. Wonder if anyone has done this?
Thanks, gentlemen, for your replys.
