Default Factory Nav/Sony Aftermarket replacement

Sorry if this has topic has been hashed out already but...

I have a 2012 F150 Lariat with Factory Nav/Sony System.

I want to replace the OEM solution with the new Kenwood Android Auto Nav units and integrate a Maestro system as well.

My installer says it can't be done because of how integrated the OEM Nav unit is into the rest of the system (Can Bus and etc) but it appears to me that the Maestro unit moves all the controls like climate and etc (and then some) to the touch screen of the Kenwood so this shouldn't be an issue.

On top of that there doesn't seem to be a dash kit out there that is compatible with this approach.

What are my options here?

Once this part gets sorted He'll be installing an Audison bit one, JL Audio C5 3 Way components up front, C5 5x7 in the rear doors, 2 JL 12TW3 subs, JL HD1200, and 2 HD600/4's.

I can retain the OEM HU if need be I guess but really want to try the Android Auto experience!

Thanks in advance.

James

Maestro and Kenwood will work in your truck. The issue is there is no plastic to do it. Most people that have done this keep the OEM panel and modify it to take the new radio and build their own brackets. Your installer should be able to do this, but if not, find someone who does a lot of fabrication and they should have no trouble.

Best,
Thanks, I have an appt. with a fabricator on Monday. I'm really surprised Metra doesn't have an option for factory Nav but I guess most people with that don't ever upgrade.

I may be interested in your OEM Nav Sync Module if you're going to remove it anyway. maybe help you out with financing your new setup. PM me a price for it.

Before Maestro there was no solution for the missing HVAC buttons and adding their climate control panel into a dash kit just for these truck was far too expensive for the number of units they would sell.

12 Guy that brings up a question I was wondering about while I was installing my F150 kit: How many of these type units do companies like Scosche and ADS etc have to sell before if becomes profitable. Just curious

Lots and lots unfortunately. Less for them than us because they re-use the same HVAC screen and controls in many applications, where we tool factory looking ones for each vehicle. So, we have to pick our project carefully. F150 is no-brainer though.. Just not the navi option..
