So now that my new system is all done I need to work out a small engine noise issue. It's definitely alternator whine, increases with RPMs. Here are the steps I've taken so far.

1. Started with my ground. Checked the resistance with DMM and it's good. Less than 1 ohm.

2. Unplugged patch cables from the amp, noise is gone.

So I know the noise is coming from the factory HU or the factory amp. What should I try next?

The factory head unit won't clip until around 28-29. I set my Audiocontrol while the HU was at about 25. So the Audiocontrol ended up being set to max. Backed it down, bumped gains up on amp, peace and quiet. No whine no hiss.
