I actually did my friends last night, I just took the parking break wire from the headunit, and connected it to the ground wire. And I was Kay watching a movie while driving with him about 5 minutes ago.

Apparently per law, DVD players aren't usable until the vehicle has the Parking Break engaged. SWIM doesnt exaclty love this restriction and his girlfriend HATES it during long road trips.

SWIM didnt even hook the Parking Break Leader up to the parking break electrical switch yet. It was a tad complicated and SWIM didnt exactly know what he was looking at in and around the parking break.

SWIM is fully aware that a switch can be installed somewhere along the leader (or something similiar) to effectively 'fool' the head unit into thinking the Parking Break has been depressed.

Can SWIY help SWIM: A.) connect the wiring to the parking break switch? B.) install a by-pass switch.

SWIM heard a rumor that all you have to do is connect the (12' long sea green) wire to the unit's ground (black wire). Therefore eliminating any connection to the parking break, and its electrical components.

some units, like mine needs a switch in there, it needs to see that change in voltage, or something like that. i tried just going from the ground, didn't work. ran a seperate ground wire to a switch and then connected the parking brake wire, works just fine now. i can get pics if you want.

my Kenwood 5140 all you had to do was make sure it was grounded. No need for a switch

that's exactly how i did mine, works good, i would try it without the switch first and see if it works, if not you at least got it right. i'm not sure about jvc and how theirs are set up. mine is a pioneer and needed the switch, some do, some dont.

all i did for mine, was wire a toggle switch in the wire that was sposta go to the park brake... just take one side to a ground then wire the switch in line, then hid the switch cause it woulda bugged me out in the open.... all he HU wants to see is a change in the currant of the wire. so although no power in that wire, when ya stuff a dvd in it pulls the set the p.b game, then flip the switch and bam. your watchin a movie.... for me in 4.2 dolby digital surround sound. hahaha
