Dumb question
Have a 600 watt 2ohm 2 channel amp powering two 12in 600 watt subs. The subs are wired together and are only using one channel. Could I add another sub to the extra channel? Or would that drop the power to the other subs? Thanks.

What amp & what subs do you have? Are the 12" subs dual or single voice coil?

That is a 260 watt amp bridged into 1 channel @ 4 ohms. The subs are 4 ohm subs rated @ 150 watts each. It sounds like you have both subs wired together for a 2ohm load connected to either the left or right channel on the amp. The amps puts out 130 watts per channel in stereo mode at 2ohms, so the subs would be seeing about 65 watts each.
The best you could do with that sub/amp combo would be to run the amp in stereo mode, connect 1 sub to the left channel and 1 sub to the right channel. The subs would still only see 100 watts per sub, but it is better than the current 65 watts per sub the way it is currently hooked up.
hope this helps

I would either run 1 sub with your current amp, or upgrade the amp to run both subs. You will want an amp rated at 300 watts @ 2ohms, Crutchfield has a few on sale.
Here is a cheap amp with great reviews:

Here is a better amp at a great price:

If you go with the Alpine amp, just make sure go easy on the gain control. This would be a little more power then the subs are rated at.
