Has anyone installed this HU or similar in your XL, XLT or other without the nav unit? Its a non nav unit and I dont want a nav unit but I want to install this HU while retaining the upper portion of the existing panel functionality that reads the temp, direction sync reports etc.

Can this be done, has anyone done this?

There is 2 ways to go. Metra makes an adapter that retains sync and Idatalink makes one also.

The question is will it retain the factory readings in the upper console. The answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no. People have gotten both results. The temp works for sure.
