Door Speaker Bigger than 6.5"?
Hey All,
I'm looking for anyone's input with expirence on placing a woofer larger than a 6.5" in a front door.
This forum mentions a few people from this site have done it.

Specifically, does anyone have an 8" woofer with a Mr. Marv's Baffle?
Any input on larger door speakers is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
-Tung

Why not a component set with 6.5 mid-bass in the front and tweeters, and a bigger woofer in the rear doors, or the 6.5 mid bass drivers in all four doors and a sub in the rear?
I'm not knocking you, just trying to figure out the need for a bigger woofer up front?

Erievon,
Thats a fair question. I intend to use 6.5's in the door. But I thought I would ask, to see if there is a tremendous amount of additional work.
However, if I could get some killer A-post pillar pods made, an 8" woofer in the door would complete a cool 3-way system.
Really, just wishful thinking unless someone here provides some detail that sways my intrest, hence the thread.
Lastly, I am in thre process of planning, design, aquiring equipment for my sub-woofer enclosure. It will include a 12" low profile style woofer.
Thanks,
-Tung

It would depend on the mounting depth of the woofer. I think the mounting depth of the truck is 3.5 or 4". then you will need to cut/trim your door panel so that the woofer will mount properly. if the woofer is deeper than the 3.5" you will need to make custom speaker pods that will stick out from the door.

Matt,
Thanks for the input.
I am still hoping someone on the site has taken on this challenge. Perhaps they would share their expirence, and/or pictures.
So far, I guess know one has.

But it begs the question, whats a Ford guy doing reading a Chevy site?
Seriously, thanks thats what Im looking at/for.
I am also speaking with the guy who made these for an Econoline Van.
