Cool Do I need a PAC? for aftermarket upgrade *deck?

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here on the f150forums and I have a question for you all.

Some back ground on my truck. I own a 2012 Ford F150 Ecobeast XLT model with a stock stereo, NO SYNC completely stock. I do not have steering wheel options for volume, Just cruse control and driver controls.

Now saying that my question is this, Do I need to install a PAC unit to by pass anything? I've gone to 2 audio install company's for install and pricing and they both told me I will need one. They wanted $229 for the PAC.
I talked to another store and they said because I don't have sync I don't need the PAC jut a wiring harness and the rest is plug n play.

What are your guys take on it? any help would be very much appreciated and all the searching I've done so far using the search function results me to trucks with a Microsoft sync stereos models.

Side note,
I want to put in a double din touch screen and 4 brand new 6x8's with 2 subs,

Sounds like you dont need the PAC. I would ask the other shop to explain exactly which PAC adapter you need since there is nothing to integrate with the OEM system.

I would think that you just need the radio harness, dash kit and AMP wiring kits/RCAs.

Yes sir...

One set should be labeled for front speakers, another for rear speakers, third set for sub.

No need for a Pac Loc!

This is an email that I got from an installer

"Isn't your Truck a 2012 ?
If so that harness will not work in your truck this module will retain your accessory 12 Volt and proper high level for speakers yes it also has the capability of doing steering wheel control ONLY if ur truck has this option the harness ur mentioned is only good til 2009 for the FSeries Truck.
There is a Custom Dual enclosures made already for these trucks limited. "

this was in a response I sent him,

I also did some more reading and by the sounds of it I do not need the PAC harness since I have no steering wheel controls for the radio.
The harness I would need is the BHA-5800...

What is your opinions again?

BS on the proper level for the speakers and you just run a wire to a switched fuse in your turn on wire

Right, because the the speaker wire is going to be run from the amp.

So I have that harness I've stated above.

So, head unit to harness > run remote and rcas to amp > PW from battery to amp > wires from amp to speakers/subs. boom music..

I just don't understand why I would need 12v for my acc....
