Do I need to dial in my amp again?
A brief run down of my situation.
Stock HU
Audio Control LCi6
Fosgate P1000X5
JL Audio Stealth Sub
Fosgate 6x8's in all the doors.
I recently installed some lights and had the battery cable off for an extended period of time. After reconnecting it my system sounds just OK. It used to sound better. Not sure if this is just me or if I have a problem. I used to be able to go to max volume and had good sound and hard bass. Now my sub cuts out about half volume. Is it possible the settings I had dialed in reset back to stock with the power cut?

Did you reset the HU controls? Treble, mid and bass? Those will go back to +/- 0. My sub will stay were it is set at with no power, not sure about the LCi6 tho

The sub is actually cutting out? That's not going to have anything to do with the gain on the amp. That sounds like a bad connection at the least or a damaged sub at the worst. Recheck your wiring to be sure. If it's just the sub cutting out but not the other 4 speakers I'd say it's either one of those problems.

The gain on your amp should stay the same with power cut. That is set with potentiometers. The sound settings of the HU may have reset.
When you say your sub "cuts out" do you mean it stops getting louder? Or that it stops making sound altogether?

It just cuts out all together. I will check the connections this weekend. It did that once before but because it was right after install I figured it was a just a connection I failed to tighten sufficiently. I will check it again. I play it at near max volume a lot so I guess its possible I have done some damage. It just sounds really good most days so I turn it up.

What is the gain set to now? It shouldn't be any higher than the halfway point. Gain isn't a volume control, it matches the output of the amp with the output of the head unit so that when the volume is at say 50%, the amp is at 50%. Set the gain too high and when you turn the volume up to 75%, the amp could be at 100% and pushed into clipping. That can fry a speaker or a sub because when an amp clips, it sends out a signal of pure distortion at a much higher wattage than normal usually only limited by input voltage. A 100 watt amp can clip at 200 or more watts.

Right off hand I don't know. Although it seems like it was about 10%. The amp came with a disc to set all that so it wouldn't clip and I turned them based on a flickering LED's. Up until about 2 weeks ago I could run it up to max volume and it sounded great. Loud as hell but great. Then this started. that is what made me think about the amp settings. I plan on taking a few hours this weekend to check the connections and maybe re-run the setup on the amp if I am unable to find anything in the wiring.
