DNN990HD and Maestro RR

I just replaced my DNX890 with the DNN990HD and I cannot be more pleased. As stated before the sound quality of the Kenwood decks is much better than the stock radio. After a week of familiarizing myself with all the cool functions, I must say Kenwood has done a solid job with this unit. The speed compared to the 890 is very noticeable with the NAV loading almost instantaneously.
I had the install done late in the afternoon and the installer was unable to get my steering wheel controls working as the technical support for Maestro was closed but I will get that done next week.
Some issues I have come across so far are:
- had trouble getting the stereo to recognize my iPhone 5 when trying to connect to its hotspot. Did a little research and found out I needed to remove the suffix the iPhone ads to your hotspot name. Apple names the hotspot by adding iPhone's to the end of the phones name (xxxxxx iPhone's ) and all I needed was to remove the suffix and the hotspot showed up.
- once the hotspot was recognized it connected fine. The only issue is I have to turn off the hotspot and on again before the deck will connect after a poweroff. If anyone knows a way to prevent this I would appreciate it.
-when using a USB device the system works well. When shutting off the truck then restarting it the deck plays the USB device, however it starts from the beginning rather than continuing where it left off. Should be a software upgrade at sometime.
When restarting the system the startup screen is not always the same as when I left. Not a big deal as the system is fast at switching this.
Well that is it so far. Will update as time goes on.

jeremyha, do you still use the external ptt button and microphone that came with the dnn990 or can all the voice commands for the kenwood functions be done through the sync button and mic?
Best,

Ive been looking to do the same, I am tired of the oem navigation in my 12 fx4, but im unsure of what kit will fit to make the 990 fit in place of the oem unit. Jeremyha did you have the OEM nav system! Looks awesome! well done.

Hey guys,
I have the DNN770HD model for a couple of months now.
It has the hotspot wifi but I do not have the service or $ to tether to it full time.
What I can tell you is the Bluetooth does have a problem mating with the HU. I turn my Bluetooth on my phone before starting the truck and sometimes have Pandora already running and the truck will recognize it. Sometimes, most times I have to turn off my phones Bluetooth to get it to recognize it.
It is great for controlling music, phone calls, and the remote control does allow for changing channels and skipping songs from Pandora, slacker radio, etc....
I got the 770 model due to liking having a control **** rather than trying to find a small button located at the bottom of the touch screen.
Overall I am happy with the 770, except for the boot up time. I didn't feel like paying an extra $300 just to have a faster boot up time.
My boot up time is 30-35 seconds. How fast is the 990 booting up to allow volume control, HU control?
