Ok, update....
I hooked up system to run at 1ohm as shown in 2nd link...
http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...no-low-imp.jpg

It kinda sounds like it made it louder. I messed with the settings on amp and got lost, freaking newbe. At 1st amp protection would shut down amp real quick so I turned down settings. Then I tinkered with them some more, plus settings on deck and it kinda sounds louder, ok it does but not sure how much.

Maybe I'll just take it to a bit more reputable shop and have them adjust settings on amp to get the most out of it. How embarrassing, tho.

The settings are.....here's a pic....

Pic shows diff size amp but it's all the same settings.

In order to tune the amp you need to turn down all the gain and sensitivity settings. Set your radio to 0 values for added bass. If you have dedicated sub woofer control then set it to around 2/3. Turn the volume up to your 'normal' listening volume and listen to the sound quality of your door speakers. When they reach their limits and begin to sound like crap, back the volume off just a hair. Now go and tune your amp to that volume level. Make small adjustments. Don't just tune for the loudest or most powerful sound if you care about SQ.

The subs you listed as haveing can only handle 400 watts each, or 800 watts RMS for the pair. By giving them 1200 watts RMS @1 ohm you will "cook" the the subs within a few days.

Go back to the 2ohm load like the prefessionls had it.

Ah yes if your subs aren't made for that kind of power you for sure need to rewire for a lower load on the amp!!!! I should of checked the specs on your sub but I assumed you had done that upfront.

Ya, I knew my subs were 400watts rms each for 800watts rms total. My amp says 1200watt @ 1ohm but doesnt say if that's peak or rms. Was thinking that was a peak rating so it I'd be getting closer to the 800watts that I'm looking for. Sound about right or am I off???

Nah you need to wire them back down to 4 ohm and don't max out your amp gain level. Better to be safe than sorry. Don't run them at their limits.

They can't be wired into 2ohms. He will have to drop back to 4ohms (load at the amp). The subs are SVC 2ohms, so the only options are 1 or 4.
