Default Decide my setup

Ok guys as you can see by my posts I can do just about anything with the rest of these trucks, but the radio and speakers are something I have never touched. The most I've heard otherwise is my brother's car with an upgraded HU and amp and it was a vast improvement. I don't need much, just something to start slow as I will do all the work myself. I was thinking of two options: 1. Just do the speakers and see how it sounds or 2. do a double DIN HU and speakers. Not interested in giant amps and subs. I generally listen to country music so sound quality is more important than thump.

Here's what I was looking at for HU and speakers and which option would be best to start?

It will be a good improvement but when i did my upgrade with new HU and speakers it sounded good. But i needed a bit more thump and i really only listen to country and a bit of rock. I also didn't care about big subs like 10' and 12's so i bought the Sound Ordnance B-8PT powered 8" and it really helped the sound in the truck.

That's the same HU I've been looking at to put in mine. Let us know how you like it.

I would do both. stock HU and speakers both suck.

FYI though I have amped speakers and a 12" sub and Hank III sounds awewome amped up! That old time stand up bass really sounds nice on the sub. I listen to rock, outlaw country, hardcore metal, and old school rap.

Thanks for the tips guys. My problem is I really don't have the room under the seats for subs and amps, unless there's something I'm missing. Are there any amps that can go behind the HU and stay out of the way?

look up the alpine powerpack, its a mini amp that you can hide in your dash.

hey otto

The head unit is not bad, installed quite a few. the speakers as well are not bad, both would improve sound, however i would go with a true 7" screen since the opening on the kits for these truck is so big, also do the alpine Ktp-445u (power pack like f150skidoo said i have it and installed many and greatly improves sound.

also look into the Kicker 8" hideaway sub (11HS8), i do these alot in these trucks and gives you the low end you are looking for without rattling or losing space.
