so i have decided to go with an xl lvl4! i am real excited to order it soon! rusty gave me what seems like a very reasonable price! I plan on preordering one of the sundown saz2000 for 425 before they go up to around twice that! only downside is that it wont be ready til june! but 2000 rms to the xl should be fine. ive read everywhere that they are way underrated! and as far as having room for the downfiring xmax shouldnt be more than 26mm or so and the part that you actually mount down shoulnt be much over 3/4 inches so that about 2 inches max. so 2.5 is what i have and im thinkin its gunna work! any input?

and question about porting and tuning! i can do the math to figure it out but was wondering if the cubes is after displacement from sub and the wood from the port or not? thanks

nice choice, you will like the xl, what size are you going to get, the saz 1500 would be a good choice too so you can get one now...they are under rated too

sundown makes some nice amps

getting a 12" cuz thats about all i can fit. well 425 for a saz2000 and having to wait i think is better than 799 msrp for the 1500. lol the 2000 won't be too much power will it?

no, the 2000 will be a good match as long as you dont get retarted and turn the bassboost all the way up, remember bass boost is not a volume ****!! do you have access to a dmm it will aid you in setting your gains correctly

for the most part, for that amp make sure you get some 0 gauge, hook up your dmm to voltage, and hook it up into the positive and negative onto your amp, dont let your voltage go bellow 12 volts at idle, turn your ac on full blast and your headlights on, set your deck at 0 bass, and turn your deck 75% of the way up, with all the gains down, adjust from there, thats the easiest way to do it

Many people way over think gains. They are in the most simplistic form, volume controls. For multi amp(sub, 4 channel) set your deck at 0 bass, 0 treble, 0 mid. Adjust your gains untill all your volumes sound the same. Do not adjust at over 75% volume on your deck...

bass boost and gain is not a volume control, that is one of the LARGEST mis conceptions out there, many people blow speakers and subs by turning those up loud to get more "sound" out of there amps, in return what it does when they are cranked is send some nice dirty and clipped power to your speaker and or sub causing it to heat up faster and shorten its life very fast, turning coils on subs dark and blacken, turning the tinsel leads brownish and before you know it POOF

so why do automakers put the bass/treb boosts on the stock systems if they could potentially hurt the system?? (and what do they really do? )
