My radio will cut out for a second or so every couple minutes. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? What would cause it do to that?

Halem,
I tried to help you via PM if you would answer the questions instead of answering questions no one asked perhaps you would get more help.
I think it pretty obvious at this stage I tried to help you.

Hello again everyone, I've been away from the forum for a while good to see there is still some interest in these units. Nothing really new to report with mine, just stopping in again, I'll help out when I can.

As you were....

I recently bought mine from eBay and the only issue with it is the button illumination. The buttons won't light up (no night mode function either) and am wondering if this has to do with the pin issue? I'm not entirely sure what you guys mean by switching the pins but I think I have an idea. Has anyone had issues with no illumination of the buttons?

Hello Brody,

I had the same issue on my FSN971 unit. I was able to install a pin in pin slot 23 of the new radio harness from the Ford large plug (old radio harness pin 20 called illumination feed). So basically you are routing the Ford illumination wire to pin 23 of the new radio in order to turn on the units illumination. I have attached the pin outs. Have a look and see if this will work for you as well.

Good Luck.

Hmmm the pinout diagram in the word document is different than those in the pdf. I'm not sure what to change on the ford plug. I don't have a new harness. I just plug the ford harness into the deck. Pin 3 calls for illumination on the pdf and has been confirmed to be giving power but still no lights.

Oh nevermind! I think I get it! Pin 3 on the ford plug is going to pin 20 on the new deck so I have to move the pin from slot 3 on the ford plug to slot ? on the ford plug.
