1- i didn't even say w7's were loud
2- w7's are an sq sub.
and a 10", lets say, type R, is not even close to as loud as the 12", what is the difference?
I'll take a wild guess and say the displacement of the sub.... so yes surface area of the sub makes the difference. but among different subs the size of the sub doesn't determine the loudness. all of the subs you listed are very loud and have very long linear excursion and can move some air haha

i usually just put things in layman terms for the people who do not know anything about audio. i didnt want some seeing this guy say that subwoofer diameter does not matter and take it to heart. but thanks loganberry for clearing my post up

surface area does not mean everything when you take into consideration the strength of the subs...look at that piece of **** jackhammer, 22" 300 somethin pounds, but not as loud as 1 18" that weights 75 lbs, strength of magnet, quality of the spiders and coil has stuff to do with it too, bigger isnt always better remember thatt

First off, this is what i said..."Some 10's kick 12's and 15's to the curb. Its not always size that matters." Notice the word SOME meaning not all, possibly only meaning a couple. Way to twist words around to make yourself seem more intelligent when all you really did was the complete opposite. Now i shouldve said in my oninion you cant get a much better stereo that two W7's becuase i love the clarity and response of JL w7's, i didnt say they were the best nor no other speaker can top them in depth or anything...make sure you actually read the post before you criticize it. Glad to see that had i said that and meant it the way you took it, you would have laughed at me, given i would do the same to anyone else.

JL is ****? haha. just goes to show that everyone has a different opinion on what they feel is fit for their liking. ive always been a JL fan but that doesnt mean i dont realize there are other subs better in many different ways. this is merely my opinion and that is all. as far as sound quality goes i dont have any input to compare but for price, a 12w7 vs a re xxx 12, they arent all that much more in price. spending the extra money on a bigger amp for the xxx looks as if they would basically even themselves out also.
honestly, i wish i could put either one of these subs in my truck but due to lack of space its not worth it. i have two 10w3v3's without changing the overall appearance in my back seat...sounds amazing and the **** JL subs are quite impressive.
looks like i may have hit a nerve with the JL appreciation, haha. no need to defend im just stating my opinion like i said a thousand times. plus seeing as how you seem to give a lot of answers on this site, id hate to **** you off when i may need some advice later down the road. thanks for making my normal morning a bit more interesting though.
