Default Component preferences

Hey guys, looking to change out my door speakers and not sure if I want to just swap out for coaxials or change to component 6x8 or 6.5. I want to know what you guys are using, if running components, where are you putting the crossovers and what size/brand gives decent midbass without breaking the bank. I'm planning on running of my pioneer head unit for now, may amp later, it's an avhp4400bh. 16 watts rms x4. Thanks in advance!

I did infinity kappa 6x8, it was easier and I get great sound out of them. They ran about $65 bucks a pair on amazon.

My opinion, if you are just using deck power and not an amp, don't waste your money on components. I run the 6.5 MB Quart Premium component set that I bought years ago, but the are power hungry

Focal access 6.5 components they will run off the HU for now and you can push them with 100 watts later. Go with a circular cone whatever you get ovals are easier to distort.

I was thinking about 6.5's but wasn't sure if they would fit depth wise. Is there adequate room or will I have to space it out? I know this obviously depends on the speaker choice but does anyone know how much space there is so I can make my choice to what fits? I know with a 6.5 I will have to make something up because it won't match the hole of the 5x7.

Almost any mid-grade aftermarket component or coax 6.5" or larger will require more than 16 wrms for you to truly hear the speakers capabilities. The comps give you more of an advantage due to the crossovers and db settings. You can always go down ~ -3 to-6db's on the tweets to let your mids shine a little more. I run -3db in mine(they are mounted on the front a-pillar).

To answer your questions, some cheaper model speakers may sound better than expensive brands without proper power. So it is truly are hard questions to answer. My best suggestion to get a brand that will allow you to have decent SQ with the factory setup, but allow you to upgrade to a 4 channel amp later to fully hear the potential of the front and rear stage.

Suggestions:
Front:
I would do comps in the front, simply for external crossovers and settings, along with expanding and on-axis sound.
Friendly priced comps

Infinity and alpine are my favorites. I recommend an amp though for any component. That's when they shine.
