component help
So im looking for new speakers and cant decide if i want some 3 way kickers or a good set of affordable (not more than 150$) comp's. I also dont want to have to do any rigging to mount them and want it to look stock (apart from the tweeters of course) so wat should i be lookin for? im not too versed in audio stuff and just want something loud and clear thats not gonna distort.
thanks guys, oh and i was looking at the pioneer premium components, i think they were like 5 1/4 or 5 1/2" or something like that for like 85 bucks...pioneer is good stuff i just dont know if these are too cheap or what...gimme some help!

Hope you don't mind if i jump in for a quick related question. I am also debating coaxials or components, but want to know if the 2010 xlt has the holes for the tweeters already there like the 05-08s have...

I'm running Alpine Type R components up front and they are a great set. I'd recommend them to anyone. They have gotten much cheaper over the last year or so, so they are right at your price range. Another plus is that you don't have to worry about making MDF baffles...they come with mounting adapters that fit perfectly.

I just noticed you said you'd be powering them off the head unit. In that case I'd recommend either sticking with a pair of coaxials or better yet leaving the stock speakers in until you find at least a cheap amp to power them. Most aftermarket speakers need more power than what your head unit will be sending them to sound good.

I dont want to run another amp, im still running a stock alternator and burned one up and dont wanna have to worry about killing another one. If yall really think it wouldnt be worth it to pay like 20 bucks more for components to run off my head unit i guess ill just get coaxials. Its gonna be a b-day present so i really dont care. Wouldnt it be way better than stock and a little better than coaxials even with 22rms off the h/u? And if later on down the road I do get a amp i just gotta add it to the wiring.

I'm running two amps off of the stock alternator without any issues. I'd say save your money for now and stick with the stockers, at least until you decide to run an amp----it will save you money in the long run. I'm running the Type Rs off of a small Kenwood amp, but it's plenty for these. It's only about $130.

But yeah, I don't see how adding an amp would burn the stock alternator. Plenty of us have amps with stock alternators without problems. I recently installed two JL 10w3v3s, so I'm now running those with a mono amp and the comps off the 7204. My next upgrade will be to get a new amp for the comps and likely replace the comps with a set of Rainbows.

hmm thats what i was thinking but i saw some places people sayin to stay away from using the stock amp with multiple amps...i didnt think it was a problem but i dont really want to spend the money on a new amp and wiring kit right now...ill just stick with my stockers right now i guess and save for a 30-06 lol
