Completely lost...help with new system for 07 fx4
Gonna replace the factory system with a double din.....used the search function and came back more confused. Here is what I am trying to achieve:
- Bluetooth
- backup cam
- Sirius / XM
- use of factory steering wheels controls
- clean installed look (want it to look factory even though it is obviously aftermarket)
-'connectivity with my iPhone 5s
- touchscreen a plus but not necessary
Budget kinda open.

I'm in the same boat as you, minus I don't want the Sirus. Are you looking for Nav too? Personally I'm not.
The decks I've been looking at are the new Kenwood ones. The DDX471HD, DDX491HD and DDX5901HD. I think the 5901 comes out at the end of the month and the other two are available now.
My biggest dilemma now is if I want to retain the factory Sync. If so then I'll need a Maestro from iDatalink. Supposed to work very well and adds in some cool functionality with displaying vehicle gauges and tire pressure info. I just don't know if I really need it since the iPhone integration on the new decks is supposed to be pretty good. If I can get Siri voice control from a steering wheel button instead of Sync I would be happy with that.
Here's a link to the thread I started. I think my next step is to stop into an installation place and see what that would actually cost and if they have any recommendations for or against retaining Sync.

The DDX5901HD is the way to go. It's way nicer than the lower cost DDX units. Using Maestro RR, you can choose whether or not to retain Sync. You can also assign a command to the steering wheel to activate Siri. In fact, if you choose to keep Sync, you can do both, but you won't use Siri to make phone calls, you'll use Sync. Personally, I can tell you I have been very happy with the phone call voice quality and voice recognition ability of Sync.
If you keep Sync you also gain an extra USB that you can use with voice commands. You ADD that to the USB from the Kenwood. So really there is no downside to keeping it.
You cannot use Maestro SW on F150 trucks from 2011 and up as the SW commands are on the databus. I think you might be able to use a Metra ASWC, but not entirely sure.
Hope this is helpful.

Upon further review....I have a 07 so no sync needed...also my steering wheel controls seem to be cruise only.
So maybe one of the lesser pioneer head units will work for me.
