Default Buying an Amp. Need Help With ohms rating.

Hello fellow f150 forumers.

I recently bought 4- 6x8 inifinity kappa with a 2-ohm impedance. 100W RMS

Now I'm looking to buy half of my system right now, with a 4 channel amp, run it in 3 channels to power the front two speakers, and a sub that i'm purchasing also.

The amp im looking at is an Alpine PDX-F4 and I'm not sure by reading this if I will be able to run 3 channels with the right ohms. I've done alot of reading but still am not sure about it.

So I want to buy that amp, and depending on the ohms rating I will either buy a 2ohm DVC Alpine Sub. or a 4ohm.

I'm not sure if the front speakers are considered to be connected in series? and I would add the ohms together.

If there is 2 speakers @ 2ohms. = 4ohms
1 Subwoofer @4ohms

And the sub says Bridged its 200Wx2 @4ohms.

So I'm not sure if i should buy this setup. Or if its better to buy a 2ohm subwoofer and run it @4ohms? Will this require less power from the amp, causing less overheating.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong or maybe guide me in the right direction, if you can let me know.

Here are links to the components I Want to connect:

Amplifier
Subwoofer

You would run your regular speakers in series to get 4 ohms per side of the front channels then u need a duel 2 sub to hook a 4 ohm load to the back channels... I say get a smaller alpine two channel amp and get a small mono block for the sub it will save u alot of trouble

I would run just the two front door speakers off of the front two amp channels, for 100W RMS a piece, then run the rears off of the head unit.

You'll need the 2ohm DVC sub to get a four ohm load bridged on the rear channels, but if you're going to only run one sub with 200W RMS, I would recommend getting something with a higher sensitivity than 84 dBs, try to find something closer to 90dBs+.

the pdx-5 says thisL

Per channel into 4 ohms: 75W x 4 (0.08% THD)
Mono channel into 2 ohms: 300W (20-200Hz)

If its into 4 ohms per channel on 4 channels.

Am i able to run my speakers which are 2ohms off of this?

I dont really understand the theory of ohms and resistance. I read about it but am still not sure how to apply it to car electronics.

If my speakers are 100Watt RMS and I run them at 75W is that ok?

Also, it says mono channel into 2 ohms. What kind of sub would i buy, a DVC @2ohms, or a single voice coil?

Thanks for the fast responses to all above

thats another good idea too. I'm looking at all possible options. preferably the cheaper one.

Initially I wanted to grab a 600watt mono amp, power two 300 watt subs. Then a 4x100 watt amp for four speakers. But the price was getting close to a grand.
So i decide to go half way with the audio system, and i'm going to get dual exhaust in springtime

You could pick up an alpine mrp f300 for less that 175$ easy it will run all four speakers at 2ohms 75rms per speaker witch will be plenty and An mrp M650 for a little over 200.
That's going to be cheaper than a pdx amp period u will just have to find room for two amps.

I found the PDX-5 on ebay for around 350 USD.

The mrp f300 is 180USD
+ the mrp-m500 is 170.

So you're right i could get 300 watts for all four speakers
Then 500 watts for the same price. The only thing is,
I bought the single sided superscrewsound sub box to save a little bit of space. So to be able to find a subwoofer that is shallow mount to fit in a 10" cutout that is 500 watts would be tricky.

Again im not a car audio expert, finding space for 2 amps wouldnt be a problem either. I just want to know if either the PDX-5 will work. Or now find a 500 watt 10" subwoofer lol. So many factors to think about because the sub box is only .80 cubic feet.

Can anyone tell me if the PDX-5 will work with my speakers and which sub to buy?

Speakers are 100watt rms infinity kappa @2ohms
Sub should i buy a 300watt rms Alpine DVC @2ohms or @4ohms

Or if u did want to buy two separate amps u can do that too and 500rms on a 300rms sub will be ok just turn the gain down a little more and u will get very clean power... So it's up to u now. If it was me I'd get the pdx5 it's newer cleaner more efficient and simpler to hook up
