Bluetooth/Synch Question

Bluetooth/Synch Question
For most of you, probably a very basic question but I searched and didn't see an answer.
Never used bluetooth/synch before but now in my 2012 XLT I have both so figuring it out.
Question is, when I use Bluetooth to stream music from my iPhone ( like the music already loaded on the iPhone ) that doesn't use Data Charges from my cell phone provider does it? An easy way around that is to plug the phone in with the synch obviously...
Only if I were to stream Pandora or something like that, would it burn some of my data?
I ask because I have a 12 hour drive at end of the week and don't want to blow through my 2 gig of data into overcharges...

As an alternative, you can use iTunes to copy your music library (or just a playlist if you like) to a flash drive and plug the flash drive into the USB jack on your dashboard.
I don't change my music library often, so that's what I do, and I just leave the flash drive plugged in all the time.
When you first plug in the flash drive Sync will scan all the files and store a catalog of them (they call this indexing the flash drive). Indexing my 32GB flash drive seemed to take hours. This way Sync can display the song and artist, and you can use voice to select the genre, artist or album you want to listen to.
