Not really a stereo question but stereo cats know alot about alarms. Looking to buy a new HU but first want to invest in an alarm system. The Viper 5901 seems popular at alittle over 200 bucks. Is it better to have it installed or do it yourself?

Best alarm Viper, but for me is to expensive i have use CrimeStopper in 3 cars now, and works flawless.

Whats the differance between the Viper 5901 and the Python 991?

I can't remember the model in my explorer, but as soon as i get my F150 i'll be putting one of the 2 way remote start combos they have.

I haven't install then, but it took about half an hour.

i have the viper 5901 and i had all the bells and whistles installed with it.. i love it plus it comes with a nice warrenty and a recharging remote. i have the smart phone installed also which is a plus incase ur remote dies you can use ue cell to work the alarm. viper in my opinion is by far the elite in alarms plus they back there product i had the crime stopper high line alarm and paid the shop to take it out i hated it .my truck has over $5000 is audio goodies in it so viper is for me..hope it helps

Thanks for the input. Did you happen to look at the Python 991 also? Just wondering what the big difference between them since they are made by the same company, though I am starting to lean in the Viper 5901 direction.

viper python cliffor and avital are all DEI products. v p c ill all make a 5901 variant with just a different remote. thos alarms had issues when they first came out but all is well now.

crimestopper is cheap chinese stuff. if you dont have a problem with that then save yourself 40 bucks and get a cs

not only are there more viper dealers any where but viper has the best warrenty on the market plus they offer paying deductible coverage if your truck is stolen or broken into with there alarm.. i forget how much they will cover but u can find it on there site.. when indoubt go with the best
