I got Rockford Fosgates all the way around. I love them. Sound great to me. Amazon had them for around $45 or $50 delivered.

5x7 and 6x8 speakers are the same size and are interchangeable. I had Infinity 6x8 components in my 06 doors. There is already a hole for the tweeters, I just had to open it up just a hair. If memory serves me, the hole is up just forward of and above the armrest.

In many installations yes, but this is also dependent on the speaker manufacturer. Rockford(also they sell a smaller 5x7) and other companies have a 6x8 physical speaker and have additional holes in the speaker for the smaller dimension. Your Infinity probably was a 5x7 with additional metal tabs for the larger dimension, only needing to bend them out of the way to make fit. Good looking out for the OP to tell them what particular brands/models may work for his gen Ford.

Well thanks for all the info. I'm working on installing the Sub right now, and will worry about the speakers next. The problem is, when properly installed with the 5v regulator, I get some faint hum/white noise out of the subwoofer that is noticeable when the music is soft or paused. Is this common and can it be fixed?

Don't hear it on mine. Check your ground.

Double check your amp ground wire. Also I went with Polk Audio DB571 (Marine rated) because water does get inside the door no matter how well they may be sealed. Right at $60 per pair.

Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB571 5-by-7-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Black): Car Electronics Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB571 5-by-7-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Black): Car Electronics
.

They sound great and will sound even better once I install the Alpine inline amp.

I just replaced both my rear and front speakers.
In the rear I put a pair of Kenwood KFC-X683C's. They sound incredibly good, are highly rated, and can be found for < $60 a pair. They might lack a little low end punch, so with a sub, they would be great. In the front I went with a pair of JL Audio C5-570x's. Yea, a little pricey, but they are are very efficient, have a really great, smooth tweet (mine's the component version), and great mid/bass response as well. Both are 6x8, and both fit flawlessly.
Read the reviews for those speakers and see if they hit a sweet spot for you.
I'm very happy with both of them (especially hooked up with my sub, a Pioneer TS-SWX251).

I'm guessing you ran your amp power parallel with your signal wires. The draw on the power wiring is inducing current into your signal. You probably need to separate the two runs, they shouldn't cross except at 90*. Could be another underdash source of induction if the signal wire isn't shielded.

BTW, there are already tweeter holes in your doors from Ford:

Also, 6x8s will fit fine (that size is specifically designed for use in Ford applications). Depending on the size of the woofer, you can fit as large as 6.75" components with a cheap adapter. My Pioneer Premier 6.75" components even came with the adapter.

You may be able to find the answer to any other questions in the Sticky I wrote: https://www.f150forum.com/f30/2004-2...-basics-49666/

Thanks for all the input everyone! I have almost decided on the Kenwood Excelons, just so I can keep it consistent with my Kenwood HU and I have always been kinda partial to Kenwood. Also, I will try to upload some pics (if you guys want them) of my newly installed Factory FoMoCo Sub. Works great for a stock system, it's good to bump a little!
