Battery Isolator Q: 'True Ignition Source?'
This is for installing a second battery with a Stinger battery isolator. I have everything ready to install. The Stinger instructions call for connecting one of the connections to a 'true ignition source'. I don't really know where to connect this lead. The other three are obvious.
Any help here?

It's a relay, an not a resistor, correct?
Besides, my goals are not for car audio, per se but for pure battery protection of my charging battery. I am using this for deep-desert camping, with possibly days that I don't run the truck enough to re-charge a primary battery. Beside some very limited stereo use, this is also for lights, some camping gear, some low voltage electronics, etc.
Doe this make more sense?

alot of stereo shops tell you that you need a isolater, the only situation where a isolater would be helpful is if you had your stereo going for a long time off your 2nd batter, its main use is to drain the rear battery (your 2nd batter) first and leave as much of a charge in your front battery for starting the vehicle and stuff...so it sounds like it would work for what you need...however depending on the battery you get be careful...going from a charge to so low it wont even start a vehicle will kill your battery quickly

That's what I was trying to say in the first place. Besides, this thread isn't a debate on isolator use, it's about isolator installation, regardless of my intentions...but thanks for chiming in!

Try this:

Granted, it's for an Exploder but it might have the same wiring.
I'm also on a quest for this wire for my Avic Z120BT head unit. When I turn over the engine, it drops bluetooth pairing during the reboot and interrupts audio playback which gets my man-panties all in a bunch.

...got it!
I just tapped the ignition coil line.
It is Red/Green Stripe, and the line is just a few inches long, as my relay is right there....
Thanks for the help...
