Default 2018 Factory F150 Backup Camera with Aftermarket Headunit

I recently upgraded to my stereo from the 4” to an Alpine ILX-W650. I’ve got everything wired up however I am having some trouble wiring the factory backup camera. I used a maestro ads-mrr for the connection but the harness seems like it was designed for the 2015-2017 model which has a separate video harness. The 2018 uses the main sync 2 hardness. The stereo however uses a rca input for the video connection so I’m looking for a way to splice an rca adapter into the existing harness. I was able to do this with the factory mic but the backup camera has been challenging. I located the video + and video - pins on the sync 2 connector C2383A (pins 14 and 15) however I am getting no signal when plugged into the stereo. The camera has 5 pins including ground, power, video -, video +, and video d. Am I missing something with the video? In reverse I’m still not getting a signal. What does the video d signal control?

Is yours in the mirror originally? I have a 2012 F350 with Navigation and going to be doing the same thing with a Kenwood unit and Maestro, but not finding anything about the video connections to the Nav unit. I found a few on those trucks that have the cam in the mirror and the tap points are by the hood release on the drivers side in the F150, and I think on the passenger kick panel on the SD.

Don't know if it helps. I think there may even be a harness for Syn2/3 for this that goes between the factory plug and the Maestro harness with an RCA output. https://www.4dtech.com/ford-camera-i...2-3-8-screens/

Do you have access to the 2012 Superduty nav pinouts? I haven't been able to find it.

Or maybe this is what you need https://www.4dtech.com/4-to-8-pnp-ca...-for-sync-2-3/

I took a look at that harness however the 2018 (or atleast mine) doesn’t have an 8 pin connector or separate harness for the camera. The wires from the camera go straight into the sync module with a plug like this https://www.4dtech.com/ford-camera-i...2-3-8-screens/.

Called idatalink and confirmed that the video d needs to be grounded to get a video signal from the rear camera.

That was the first one I posted. Now we know where it goes.
