Did you ever figure out the noise situation?

I haven't taken it back in but I believe I do know what is going on. I believe they tapped into an ignition fuse so even when the radio is off, the amp is on, thus noise. I thought this amp has remote sensing...i will eventually take it back in to see if there are any other options. Another thing that bugs is every time I unlock the truck and open the door, there is an audible pop from the speakers. Likewise, when i use remote start and let the truck warm up, then unlock and open, there are 4 pops of the same kind, every time. So these are little annoyances I need to have remedied.

The hiss you are hearing with the radio off is definitely because your amp is still on and playing white noise because there is no audio signal being sent to it. I'm surprised that converter doesn't have way of tempting the amp on when the radio is on and off otherwise... the popping sounds is also an issue with the amp wiring. I had similar issues with a truck Years ago. Good luck and thanks for the write up!! Looking forward to upgrading my system one day!!

Yeah, I need to take it back in. They "guarantee" their installs for life...we'll see if this is covered. The noise was since day 1 but it was loud in the shop and we never tested for silence. When you say you had similar issues with the pops and it was wiring...does this mean you were able to fix it?
