Default Auxiliary input?

2004 F150 with the 6 disc changer.

It has a AUX input, but when I press it, it says NO AUX INPUT or something.

Is it possible to add the input to this radio?

It would help to know what it really says.

There are adapters but they usually use the 6 disc input. It would be better to upgrade the HU. $100 or so and you can have USB and BT

No it does not. I have seen this tray with the 3.5mm jack in the front left corner. I am considering getting one if the radio head unit is capable of supporting it.

Yeah, the obvious answer would be to go aftermarket, but I don't want to spend money on a new head unit for my occasional use truck. Besides, I'm pretty happy with the OEM stereo and, 6 disc (internal) changer and overall sound.

I was just curious if the back has some sort of connector to plug in for the Aux adapter. I could then just add the missing harness and tray assembly. Plug and play.

Can you elaborate on this please? Is this a plug-n-play adapter for the back of the radio?

I think that the 3.5mm aux jack became available in 2006 as an option and standard in 2007, so even though your radio has an AUX button on it, it does nothing, and there are no OEM solutions to add it, as the radio itself is missing the actual 3.5mm jack controller.

Most people seem to have the best luck with the PIE Model FRD04-AUX controller. Unfortunately, it seems that it has been discontinued and is hard to find. However, there seems to be plenty of other solutions out there to add one or two auxiliary ports for 2004-2006. It will all depends on how much you want to spend.
