just installed a Viper 5901 (new model) on my truck, and had a 5901 previous model on my gmc envoy.

love both of them! use it in summertime for a/c and winter for the heater and ability to turn on the defrost from remote.


was 618.02 from jackie cooper electronics, they were helpful and allowed me to customize my setup on both vehicles

plus i'm in college and live in an apartment and since i have no more garage or nice neighborhood i love the fact that i know if someone is messing with it or not from around half mile away (one mile unobstructed)

i talked to the guy who installed mine and he wired switches for my tailgate and a detachable one for my toolbox incase i ever take it off, that way if someone breaks my tailgate lock to get at my lights or breaks into my toolbox it also sets off the alarm.




those of you who say you never use it or it's worthless.... wtf?!?!?

i put one on my scab. at 1st it was strictly a remote start & keyless entry. then i got an alarm/remote start & put it in my lightning. i liked that unit so much, i ended up getting the same one for my scab & had it installed in there.

i found a local guy to me that installs the stuff. he used to work for circuit city. he will only install DEI systems (which is what i had) since thats what he worked with. i think mine were basically installed for about $200 each.

I had an aftermarket remote start installed on my truck. I think it was called Avital or something like that. I got it from Best Buy because my buddy worked there and saved me some money. I paid like 150 installed so regualr price I think was around 300. I also bought a device that our trucks need for the remote start because our keys are chipped. They said I could either purchase the device or constantly leave a key in my truck with a wire wrapped around it connected to my ignition. Needless to say that sounded stupid so I shelled out the extra money for the device. Anyways works great and I have started my car from as far away as a 1/4mile. Is great for warming up the engine and intrerior when its cold outside. Happy Hunting.
