I would shop around. I went to a local shop with a good rep and asked about the same thing and got a quote all Jl for a little under 3K. But it was the JL cookie cutter
stealth mod http://www.jlaudio.com/car-audio-stealthmod-ford and the jl audio stealthbox http://www.jlaudio.com/car-audio-ste...upercrew-09-14. The guy just looked it up in a book and didn't really know much about it.

I went to another shop....in a not so good part of town. Not as nice as the other place. I told him what I was looking at. He said he could do a much better custom system. This guy knew his stuff....never looked a at a book...came out looked at the truck. Gave me a quote of 2100 with all four door speakers two amps all Jl and a custom sub box with a JL sub. He was quoting all JL stuff.....including CleanSweep® CL441dsp ..CleanSweep® CL-SSI ....so I knew it was better equipment.

I haven't done it yet...but I am real close.

The Lc2i also has a feature in it that eliminates the sub signal drop off that occurs with the stock Sony setup. At a certain volume level, the factory system cuts out bass in hopes of preserving the speakers. This processors eliminates that so you never have the bass drop off that would occur if you had a cheap LOC in there and just wired it up.
Thanks for the info - great stuff
Are you running your infinity speakers with the stock sony power? How do they sound? Thx

I'm leaning towards your set up, running an amp/sub with the LC unit
But maybe thinking of adding an amp to run the factory speakers.

Sub is the only thing powered by something other than the factory amp.

Factory tweeters are still in place and all the Infinity door speakers are being powered just like stock from the Sony amp under the console. It sounds good enough to me that I am not going to waste my money or time on going to the next level with another amp, bigger/better processor, lots more wiring, etc.

This setup can also be removed and put back to stock with the stock sub in a matter of an hour or less. I made no permanent modifications to the truck and they can all be very quickly and easily reversed when it comes time to sell or trade in.

Good idea. Upgrading the door speakers should always be the first step toward improving factory sound.

Is there any way to bypass the sony system amp and go stock head unit to aftermarket 5 channel amp - to door speakers and a sub? I want to retain sync and all oem control (steering wheel controls, etc)
Thx

Not that I know of. The Sony amp converts the digital signal from the factory HU and provides crossovers to the speakers

Spoke with an two audo shops today - two different takes on the project:

Shop A will do a RF Punch 5 channel amp, Audio Control Processor (LC7?), and all the wiring for $1600, I have to purchase the sub.

Shop B takes a different stance. I buy all the items myself (Amazon/Ebay), and they charge $350 for the install/calibration. He's saying he'd do it without the processor, he mentioned some converter he'd use instead - he has one in stock. I could buy a nice Alpine 5 channel PDX amp and the JL CP108-W3V3 and be out the door for around $1K.

Option B is very tempting to me. What do you think? Stange thing is shop B sounded way more confident on the process than shop A - with shop A being a more professionally presented business.

Find out what convertor option B is going to use. IMO you need a processor.

Called Audio Control - spoke with a tech. He recommended the AC LCQ1, said its a good fit for what I'm doing.

Ordered the LCQ1
Rockford Fosgate 1000X5
JL CP108 Sub

All from amazon for $900 and change. Installer quoted $350 to install

I'm fairly anxious to see how it all works out
