You can retain snyc with a wiring harness but I agree that keeping the stock hu keeps everything working.

I went ahead and ordered the alpine amp I posted earlier. Now I just don't know what I need wiring related.

OK. You can use an FRD24 to tap into the F150 radios wiring. It is plug n play and will give you 4 rca outputs to run to your amp. Then you can run new speaker wires from your amp back to your speakers. You will also get a turn on wire for your amp on the FRD24. The only other wire you need is from your battery to the amp. You will need RCA cables long enough from your HU to where your amp is mounted.

What guage wire is needed for all this?
