I might be interested in making a sub box for my Screw that will sit in the middle of the back seat floor and will also run up under the rear seat towards the rear of the truck, in order to have more air space. It will need to be able to handle a 10W7 so the air space will definetely be important.

So how hard would this be to make the box?
Would i also have created enough room, 1.25 cu. ft.

make it, you hae an example right there, now go out, take some measurements, go get some mdf, and start cutting.

I would recomend using pl400 to hold it together.

to test this stuff out, we made a 1 foot by 1 foot box out of 1/2 inch mdf, and held it together with just pl400, and threw it around, the mdf broke apart before the seams around the pl400.

I might just do that now that i have a good example, but im now wondering if a 10W7 will work in the supwercrewsound box, and not a custom one. The only thing im worried about with the supercrewsound box is that it only has 1.10 cubic ft. of space while the W7 needs roughly 1.25 cu ft.

I think you will be able to get the extra air space because you will not need the space on the bottom of the box for the sub to fit in, if you keep that part flat to the floor, you should have all of the room you need.

WOW a thread devoted to me......LOL

JL audio subs don't need a lot of airspace at all which makes them wonderful subs. I love making boxes and have made MANY and love doing it. I've never done one in a crew cab though so this would be new to me.

Pl400 is very good stuff to use and works amazing!!! I would also use small screws to hold it together for more rigidity.

I'm actually trying to figure out a place to put mine when I get read to do a system. I took out the front seats and found plenty of room under them. I'm thinking about builing a custom box to go under the front seats. I'm still exploring the truck trying to find big enough spaces for subs.

what are the dimensions of the sub and box?? Will the sub fit into the box that is already in your truck?? It will still hit pretty hard but it won't be as clear. 1.10 is prolly just right for a 10" sub. I've never dealt with a 10" sub before but working with JL subs makes me think that it will work fine since they don't need alot of air space anyways.

I'd say yes it will work fine.

Im positive that the sub will fit but i wasn't sure that it would sound good since i wouldnt have the recommended air space.
