The issue with the 4.2 screen is that it is just a screen. The radio is a separate part buried down in the dash and the controls for the climate control and the radio are combined. I have to assume that there are similar problems with the larger screen model.

Hmmm, I was not aware that the a/c controls and radio were an integrated unit. How did you find that out? Is there an article that goes into depth I could read about that?

Hey do you think it is possible to ditch the radio and a/c unit and install a pre-2013 a/c controller with any head unit I choose? Essentially going back to the 2009-2012 layout?

Basically I am sick of the issues I have with sync and would rather have a nice alpine, kenwood, etc nav head unit without using sync at all.

I am basing that on one of the posts above, and some old pictures that I remember seeing.

I looked into swapping our my setup for the base version. I read that it would not work, but that may only be because sync won't work anymore. I gave up on the idea because acquiring the parts was going to be too expensive, and I could not tell if the traction control button would swap over correctly. Mine has hill descent which makes it even more difficult.

If I would swap to the base style, keep my hill descent and traction control I would do it even if I lost sync.

i found this forum when looking for a dash kit

knowing that there hasnt been anything yet for the sync/microsoft/sony garbage ford supplied us with and not wanting to loose my heated/ac seats i havent spent to much time but i got this months copy mobile electronics magazine and seen this today

http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/ins...stallation-kit

its really ugly but i see it has the hvac controls i dont know if it has the full setup and if it can interface the backup camera into the new replacement deck ? anyone try one?

also it sucks that it has the deck placed so low but that is the only place for it the upper area is full and there is no room

however i seen this today it has no info on outputs for amplifiers and i cant find a website or contact to email

The Schosche kit has clunky and slow HVAC controls and the radio is too low, the other is a cheap Chinese made unit if crap. HVAC controls are a little different and I believe reset each time the key is turned and also the interface is crap and I believe a member had one quit working pretty quick with no customer support from the suppliers since they're based in China.

This unit is available now. I am not sure that I am sold yet, but it does look better than the Metra. It gets rid of the 4.2" screen so I assume that sync is gone after this "upgrade". That is OK by me because sync sucks anyway. I will be keeping my eye out a little longer to see if anyone does a nicely integrated package that keeps the stock HVAC controls. That is what I really want.
