Default 2012 f150 want sound upgrade but want to keep the stock head

I have a 2012 F150 xlt with everything stock. I want to upgrade my sound but want to keep my stock stereo. Is there a way I can do this? Also I want to add an 8 inch powered sub. Is there a way I can do this? Any help will count thanks!

Change door speakers and install a PAC AOEM-FRD24 for your amp/sub. There are many messages discussing this exact topic.

Thanks Tallyman89 I haven't really found any and I've been looking. I just can't decide if I should go for a powered sub. will changing the door speakers give me a little kick of bass cis the stock ones really suck.

I got an 06 Super Crew n i upgraded the sounds n kept stock head unit. I replace all door speakers with infinity kappa 6x8 powered by JL audio 400/4 amp. I highly recommend door speakers be powered by an amp to get the best out of them. Added 2 10" kickers under rear seat powered by jl audio 300/1 with subs wire in series n it Freaking rocks! Not to mention i sound deaden all doors n behind the rear seat, with some HushMat sound deadener. It gets a little pricey but u never go wrong with sound proofing ur ride. But going on,
U'll need a line output converter to keep stock head unit. N ur going to have to cut the speaker wires coming out the stereo n connect them to line out put converter, run RCA's to the amp, then run speaker wire back up to stereo n connect them to the other end of the speaker wire the goes to the door speaker thru the factory wire harness. Well i hope this was helpful in getting some ideas.

Thanks 006F1ScreW . The thing is I'm really in a budget :/ I know I can't be in order to have good sound. Thats why I wanted to see if a powered sub would be best. I can probably get a jl audo 8 inch powered sub for $300 at most. I wanted to stick under $500. So any suggestions are greatly appreciated ! thanks man

Get a kicker sub upgrade, best bump for the buck. Very happy with mine. https://www.f150forum.com/f30/ford-o...0/#post4127614

Rnlcomp The thing is I kinda need the space under the seat for stuff and I saw one post that a guy put a powered sub in the back of the seat. Idk how he did that tho.

Gotta give a little to get a little, as for space under the seat, I still have plenty for my needs with the Ford under seat bin, modified a tiny bit to make room for the sub.

1st pic out of the box. The sub is down fired.

Honestly it's more than a little, the sound is amazing the way it hits now, and it fits your budget.

Oh and only other thing I did was replace all 4 door speakers with Polk Audio db571's off amazon. Just that made a decent difference for right near $100.

Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB571 5-by-7-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Black): Car Electronics Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB571 5-by-7-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Black): Car Electronics

So for under $500 you can completely transform your sound. Get the speaker adapters while your on amazon so you don't have to cut oem harness.

Amazon.com: Metra 72-5600 Speaker Adapter for Select Ford Vehicles: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra 72-5600 Speaker Adapter for Select Ford Vehicles: Car Electronics

2 packs are required.
