amp need after deck/speaker upgrade?

Amp needed after deck/speaker upgrade?
I originally posted this in the wrong place.
Hi I just upgraded my oem stereo with a entry level Alpine cd deck (cde-9872), and Alpine (SPS-507) speakers. $360 total with installation.
I first just swapped out the speakers, there was an improvement, but nothing spectacular. I then added the deck, and there was imo a big improvement.
My question is if I add a amp would I notice a similar leap in audio quality, or would I just be able to operate the stereo at higher db levels.
